Goldfish Aquarium – Have an Aquarium as Your Screensaver
Review by on
I used to have fish when I was a little boy. My parents got this big aquarium when I was little and I put sand in there, a little castle, and all sorts of fish. Then I would just stand in front of the aquarium and look at it for hours – it was mesmerizing. I no longer have an aquarium, because it remained behind when I moved out. But I have the next best thing – software.

To be more precise, I have a software application that can turn my computer monitor into a virtual aquarium. Come to think of it, my monitor is approximately the same size as my old aquarium was. But I digress – the software application I am talking about is Goldfish Aquarium. Here is what you can expect to get from the screensaver:

- 3 different fish tanks for your desktop
- 15 different fish for the fish tank: Algernon, Brando, Cali, Elton, Freida, Ginger, Halley, Jack, Julius, Minnie, Moby, Monstro, Morgan, Oreo, Prince, Tillie
- Dynamic backgrounds
- Realistic fish movement
- Play or disable water audio

Below are technical details about Goldfish Aquarium you need to know about, should you decide to get the screensaver:
Download – the download weighs in at close to 4MB. This is good news; it means that it will take little time to get Goldfish Aquarium off the web and onto your computer.
Installation - Goldfish Aquarium can be installed on any Windows version, including the latest iteration, Windows 7. Installing the application is a simple process that should go along smoothly and rapidly.
Limitations – there’s just one fish available in the trial version of Goldfish Aquarium.

I would like to use this occasion to make an environmental comment. I think that if you’re not using your computer, then you should just shut it down. If your computer is just sitting by doing nothing, then it is only wasting energy (which is bad for the environment) and wasting money (energy costs money you know). I could understand if it were downloading something off the web, or performing a process that takes a long time and you don’t have to sit there looking at the monitor. But if it is not doing anything at all, be kind to the environment and to your wallet and shut it down.

Pros
  • Lightweight download size
  • Realistic fish movement
  • Water audio
  • Works with Windows 7

Cons
  • Free to try
